Siemens Technology serves as the central research unit within Siemens, playing a pivotal role in supporting the company's business units with research and development services. It nurtures innovation, safeguards intellectual property, fosters collaborations with leading universities globally, and facilitates standardization efforts across all business sectors and regions. Through its R&D endeavors in multiple countries, Siemens Technology is instrumental in shaping the company's technological landscape and enhancing its competitive edge.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Driving (pre-)development in advanced field devices
  • Developing and implementing low-level software for embedded systems, particularly in the realm of factory automation
  • Enhancing system resources' stability and performance
  • Creating software architectures adhering to standard design patterns and introducing new concepts
  • Leading the entire development process from inception to delivery, independently or collaboratively with clients
  • Assessing and integrating third-party software components
  • Engaging in requirement engineering, feasibility evaluation, and specification derivation
  • Planning, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting IoT devices in various environments
  • Ensuring high quality and technical excellence in project deliveries
  • Continuous learning and knowledge sharing with peers

We are seeking someone with the following qualifications:

  • Completed master's degree and/or PhD in computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, physics, or related fields
  • Hands-on experience in hardware-related programming of real-time operating systems on microprocessors
  • Proficiency in coding techniques, low-level interfaces, protocols, and hardware peripherals
  • Familiarity with compilers, build systems, and version control systems
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • In-depth knowledge of system programming languages such as C, C++, or RUST
  • Background in a high-level programming language is advantageous
  • Understanding of agile software development methodologies, continuous integration, and deployment
  • Capability to interpret electronic and mechanical schematics
  • Excellent command of the English language
