Senior Software Engineer - Database Monitoring (Lisbon)

The Database Monitoring team at Datadog is focused on building cutting-edge products to monitor databases and data stores in-depth. We're creating an industry-leading product that surfaces database insights and helps customers pinpoint performance problems without manual intervention.

As a member of the Database Monitoring team, you'll be part of a fast-paced team working on the functionality of the open-source Datadog Agent and Agent Integrations, which collect telemetry from our customers' databases and systems. The Datadog Agent is deployed on millions of customer hosts across various environments, including containerized setups, virtual machines, and dedicated datacenters.

We operate at high scale, handling trillions of data points daily while providing always-on alerting, metrics visualization, logs, application tracing, and security insights for tens of thousands of companies. Our goal is to provide a seamless experience for our customers, ensuring their databases are monitored and optimized for peak performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the success of the Database Monitoring product, a rapidly growing component of Datadog's product suite
  • Design and implement new features and bug fixes in the open-source Datadog Agent
  • Work closely with your team to own the architecture and governance of the Agent codebase, ensuring high-quality contributions from all team members
  • Solve complex scalability challenges related to large volumes of data
  • Investigate performance bottlenecks and optimize resource-efficient software

  • You have experience building and shipping packaged or downloadable software
