Sterilization Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Sterilization Specialist to join our team at Memorial Hermann Health System. This role is responsible for preparing and packaging surgical instruments/equipment for sterilization, utilizing principles of Standard Precautions and Principles of Event Related Sterility.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sterile processing, with a minimum of one (1) year of experience in a similar role. Certification in Sterile Processing is preferred. The successful candidate will be able to lift and/or maneuver supplies and equipment, and perform basic computer skills.

1. Accurately handle and care for instruments/equipment, including selection of cleaning agents, lubricants, examination for function, identification and assembly according to count sheet, and preparation for sterilization.
2. Identify, document, and report equipment and tools in need of repair, ensuring maintenance is completed.
3. Organize, prepare, assemble, and sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies according to hospital/medical facility standards of sterilization.
4. Correctly peel-pack supplies/instruments, wrap instruments for sterilization, inspect each instrument for use, function, completeness, and cleanliness.
5. Load, monitor, operate, and maintain different types of cleaning and sterilization equipment and machinery accurately and safely.

• $58,000 - $70,000 per year salary range.
