Aquaculture Technician

We are seeking a highly motivated technician to support and assist in the operation and services of the Champalimaud Fish Platform. The selected candidate will join a dynamic and detail-oriented team with a strong team spirit.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance of recirculating aquaculture systems for multiple freshwater fish species and related equipment;
  • Monitorization of water quality;
  • Maintenance of live feed cultures;
  • Crosses, housings and embryo care;
  • Larval rearing;
  • Record keeping;
  • Fish health checks;
  • Technical assistance to researchers;
  • Other tasks relevant for the maintenance and development of high scientific and animal welfare standards.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must hold a Bachelor degree in Life/Biological Sciences;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Strong teamwork skills;
  • Excellent Level of English.

Selection Process:

Format: Candidates must complete the standard application form and submit a single annexed .pdf document containing the application documents: Motivation Letter, Curriculum Vitae, and contacts for references.

Selection Method: Initial selection methods shall be as follows: curriculum (60%) and motivation letter (40%). Top candidates might be called for interviews, and evaluations from references will be considered, as well as their perceived fit and potential contribution to the Fish Platform.
