Job Description
We are seeking a skilled IT specialist to manage and maintain all IT operational applications and systems for our ships and HQ. The ideal candidate will have experience with MXP modules, PBX, and IPTV systems, as well as shoreside DB and application servers. This shoreside position is based in Porto, with remote access to all systems onboard and shoreside. The successful candidate will report to the Chief Engineer onboard and IT Director shoreside.
Qualifications
Hold a BSc. degree in Computer Science or equivalent. English is the essential language, with the ability to communicate in other languages an advantage. The ideal candidate should have experience as an IT specialist, support, network admin, or system admin role. Experience with MXP or similar systems is preferable. Basic knowledge of POS systems and experience in managing print servers are also required. The candidate should be able to troubleshoot printing issues, work with DB servers such as MS SQL, and have a wide knowledge of systems/programs including MS Office, Windows (desktop and server), O365, and troubleshooting and investigating end-user errors. Experience with TCP/IP based networks, including basic switching, routing, and basic firewall technology, is also necessary. Good knowledge of VMware environment and basic knowledge of IPTV, UDP, and TV broadcasting are preferred. The candidate should be able to maintain regular DB backups and have basic knowledge of video and audio systems. Basic knowledge of VSAT communications and awareness of basic Cyber Security knowledge and Cyber Risk Management are advantages. Strong knowledge dealing with antivirus software and above average skills in tactful problem handling are required. Flexibility and open mind to work in a multicultural environment are essential. The candidate should be able to work in a harmonious productive team environment and collaborate with all departments in shoreside to ensure operational applications are always in good condition. Able to travel and work onboard of the ships is a must.
