As the headquarters of the Nearshore IT center, Alter Solutions Portugal has a dedicated team of around 30 specialized professionals, integrated into projects with several internationally renowned clients.

Job Description

The Application Production team's goal is to prepare a suitable application environment and maintain it up and running, providing an effective, responsive, and proactive level of support.

Responsibilities:

  • Technical support for all environments hosting the company's applications, both locally developed and third-party internally hosted.
  • Ensuring specialist support to the IT development and Application Support team.
  • Manage applications migrations/re-hosting.
  • Coordinate change management for all applications in scope.
  • Collaborate on changes to the infrastructure hosting the applications in scope.
  • Contribute to global/local strategic projects.

Main Activities:

  • Responsible for deploying applications by setting up environments according to the company's standards, troubleshooting, and producing accurate documentation.
  • Needs to be flexible and adaptable, as well as having a broad technical hands-on knowledge of different application technologies and enterprise infrastructure (cloud).
  • Ensures that the solution is always operational and optimal (capacity, upgrades, performance, obsolescence, etc.).
  • Adopts global and departmental guidelines, IT best practices, and IT Security recommendations.
  • Define tactical solutions to resume processes as quickly as possible.
  • Contribute to solving incidents and finding the root cause.
  • Guarantees on-call availability during required time windows or at weekends for extraordinary activities.
  • Perform regular reviews of scripts before the UAT phase.
  • Perform a regular report to the Project Manager/Technical Leader of server and application points to improve.
  • Proposes and implements optimizations for the project (can be linked to server configuration, rewrite of scripts).
  • Perform capacity planning for projects at least once a year.
  • Provide support to projects regarding the definition of solutions.
  • Participate in the standardization of practices.
  • Participate in the validation of migrations done of server instances.
  • Participate in the evolution of server tools.
  • Support the business in their IT needs and understand the business workflows and scenarios.
  • Maintain proper coverage in their designated shift.
  • Voluntarily pick up work and tasks as received over email, phone, or in person.
  • Provide business, team members, and other project/task partnering teams updates on the issue/task/project.
  • Understand the underlying issue and the associated patch fix/release and identify systemic issues.
  • Contribute towards better post-release checkouts.
  • Improve day-to-day tasks by writing scripts and automating tasks that are procedure-oriented.
  • Availability to work during Holidays/Weekends as per pre-defined needs and on a rotational basis with the rest of the team.

Qualifications

Technical Skills:

  • At least 10 years' experience in a similar position.
  • File Transfer - Open protocol, sftp, ftp, and proprietary protocol (cft).
  • Relational database concepts' knowledge.
  • General IT infrastructure knowledge.
  • Particular knowledge and experience with RedHat Linux with Windows, UNIX, WAS, SQL, (Microsoft Sql & Oracle Sql).
  • Windows (power shell, active directory, Event logs, ...).
  • Network concepts, balancer, https certificates.
  • Application Performance Monitor (Dynatrace preferable).
  • Experience with system scripting.
  • Good understanding of the ITIL norm especially Incident, Change, and Request Management and practices.

Language Skills:

  • English (Mandatory).
  • French is a Plus.
