Senior Database Engineer for Valkey and Redis

We are seeking a Senior Database Engineer to join our team at Percona. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the development of the open-source ecosystem. Your primary responsibility will be to improve the Valkey project by actively contributing code, advocating best practices, and fostering a collaborative environment within the core Valkey and Redis community.

Responsibilities
  • You will contribute to the Valkey codebase, helping to deliver against its roadmap, approximately 80% of your time.
  • The remaining 20% of your time will be dedicated to participating in community discussions, maintaining a visible presence in mailing lists or forums, and contributing to documentation.
  • You will serve as the bridge between the Valkey team and our own product, engineering, and community teams to ensure compatibility and innovation of our features and integrations with the upstream project.
  • You will partner with internal experts to provide support in diagnosing and resolving customer issues.
  • You will share your expertise on Redis and Valkey with teams across Percona to enhance their skills and understanding.
  • You will represent the Valkey ecosystem, promoting it at conferences, webinars, and community events.
Requirements
  • You should have a strong background in C or C++ development.
  • You must have 3+ years of relevant work experience or active participation in open-source project development.
  • You should possess a deep understanding of Valkey/Redis or other key-value databases, with prior experience contributing to open-source projects being preferred.
  • You need to demonstrate excellent collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in decentralized open-source communities.
  • You must possess effective communication skills for internal and external collaboration.
