We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to contribute to our innovative wind energy project. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a cutting-edge technological platform that integrates advancements across various wind energy research areas.

The primary focus of this role is to develop a unified technological platform that leverages data analytics and machine learning techniques to drive innovation in wind energy. This includes analyzing patterns from previous work, proposing cohesive solutions, and aligning them with ongoing projects. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for creating a comprehensive Wind Energy Knowledge Hub, featuring a source code repository, data lake, knowledge models, and training resources.

The hub will be designed according to European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) guidelines, enabling data reuse and innovation in wind energy research. The successful candidate will also develop semantic artefacts for data integration and implement a novel knowledge graph generation approach for effective data management.

A major aspect of this role is facilitating global collaboration within the wind energy community by promoting knowledge sharing through the WeDoWind Framework. The candidate will design a reference model for the knowledge hub, which will serve as both a deployment proposal and a training resource. Furthermore, they will define the data and knowledge resources needed by researchers in the field, drawing on solutions from other industries to develop a modern, scalable implementation framework aligned with international standards.

Our estimated annual salary for this role is £**, based on national averages and considering the location of the host country.

We offer a range of benefits, including a 36-month employment contract, full social security benefits, and a financial package plus an additional mobility and family allowance according to the rules for Doctoral Candidates (DCs) in an EU Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions Doctoral Networks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop a unified technological platform that integrates advancements across various wind energy research areas.
  • Create a comprehensive Wind Energy Knowledge Hub, featuring a source code repository, data lake, knowledge models, and training resources.
  • Design a reference model for the knowledge hub, serving as both a deployment proposal and a training resource.
  • Develop semantic artefacts for data integration and implement a novel knowledge graph generation approach for effective data management.
  • Facilitate global collaboration within the wind energy community by promoting knowledge sharing through the WeDoWind Framework.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related field.
  • Excellent programming skills in TypeScript, JavaScript, or Python.
  • Experience with web frameworks such as NestJS or NextJS.
  • Familiarity with testing frameworks like pytest or Jest.
  • Knowledge of databases, including Timescale (PostgreSQL) and MongoDB.
  • Version control experience with Git and GitLab.
  • Ability to work in a team and independently.
  • Willingness to follow the mobility plan of the programme.
