We are looking for a new colleague to strengthen our Global Process IRS Team in Ponte de Lima, Portugal

 

Main accountabilities, responsibilities and deliverables

 

  • Design, program, operate control systems including: PLC, HMI, inverters, sensors, pneumatics, industrial robots, vision systems;
  • Contribute in designing production equipment/stations relative to equipment & controls standards, controls hardware integration, network connectivity considering direct labor manning/costs, efficient material flow and handling, product quality and safety;
  • Interface and work with local ME, Production, Quality, and Maintenance functions in a team-oriented environment;
  • Design and implement manufacturing applications needed to control/monitor various manufacturing operations and record desired traceability data;
  • Provide tools and assistance to retrieve and analyze stored manufacturing data including Cockpit interface;
  • Optimization of the energy consumption in the machine hardware and software concept. (no lost energy in the machine movements, ventilators are only used when needed, machine deactivates after a few minutes - standby mode);
  • Functional responsibility for: Human Machine Interface Design & Programming; Control valve functionality management & implementation; vision systems & servo controls; PLC hardware; PLC programming; Sensors definition & setup; pneumatic & hydraulic valve actuators control system; design electrical wiring diagrams, hardware controls architecture; processors, I/O, power distribution, motor controls & sensors; cabinet field wiring; mistake proofing design & implementation; configure manufacturing/traceability application(s) for lines/cells;
  • Integration of AI solutions into IRS manufacturing processes. Use cases identification and implementation according to DivR strategy and methodology;

 

Required skills and experience / main competencies 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university with academic study/major in Electrical/Electronic/Controls Engineering, Engineering Technology, Technical Science or related field. Minimum 3 years’ experience in the field of design, construction, maintenance or operation in the field of automatic control systems, programming industrial robots, communication network and Ethernet of production processes;
  • Fluency in Portuguese and English language;
  • Proficient in  MS-Office package;
  • Knowledge of MES (Manufacturing Execution System), ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems), Digital twins (digital copy of a real process) to optimize system design, production and maintenance
  • Familiarity with APQP tools and documentation;
  • Self motivated individual with the ability to work independently. Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in line with department goals;
  • Strong project management skills;
  • Design and interpretation of electrical circuits;
  • Knowledge of industry and HS& E regulations;
  • Knowledge of communications protocols;
  • Ability to conduct effective on the job as well as virtual trainings;
  • Availability and readiness for regional and international business trips.
