THE OPPORTUNITY

The Medical Science Liaison will contribute to increased awareness and to better treatment by discussing results of high-quality trials by building and maintaining trustworthy scientific and medical relations with Health Care Professionals (HCPs). You will be the face of Boehringer Ingelheim to high-level scientific professionals where you will engage in scientific discussions and idea exchange, where an ultimate goal is to ensure that the right patients are treated optimally with a focus on new scientific approaches.

You will report to the local Medical Team Lead (Specialty Care) , and the work location is Lisbon. 70%-80% of your time will be in the field.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as a Health Care Professionals (HCPs) scientific resource and go-to-person for scientific queries and in-depth scientific information related to medications and indications within your area of expertise.

  • Generate and communicate scientific data; have a deep understanding of scientific and medical thinking, limitations, and opportunities.

  • Discuss and meet the special needs of External Experts for in-depth and leading-edge information and product/indication knowledge through interaction with this group.

  • Support Internal Medical Teams, Field force, Key Account Managers, Marketing and Market access.

  • Work in collaboration and alignment with the Medical Team Lead within the Specialty Care area.

  • Develop and maintain network and interact with HCPs and authorities.

  • Document insights from interactions with stakeholders and co-create actionable strategies based on them.

  • Identify need for registries, epidemiological studies, non-trial activities and other medical/scientific projects.

  • Provide special topics trainings or presentations for the Field Force and participate in Field Force meetings to provide scientific/clinical background.

  • Support compassionate use applications, execution of risk management plans, and facilitation of disease management programs.

WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING TO THE TEAM

  • PhD or master’s degree in Medicine/Pharmacology/Lifesciences.

  • Around 2 years of experience within the pharmaceutical/healthcare industry.

  • Knowledge of the Portuguese health care system and the pharmaceutical industry.

  • Knowledge of clinical trial design and process.

  • Experience in the Specialty Care Therapeutic Area is an asset.

  • Excellent command of the Portuguese & English languages .

  • Outstanding presentation and communication skills to share scientific content and context to multiple audiences – both orally and in writing.

  • Quality mindset, striving for excellence with a pro-active result driven behavior.

  • Strategic thinking and analytical skills with a growth mindset, be open to and drive changes.

  • Ability to use a multitude of channels in the interaction with stakeholders.

  • Outgoing personality, team-player with good peer relationship skills.

  • You have a valid driving license and are passionate about a field-based role.

  • You have an outgoing personality and strong social skills.

  • Eligibility to work and live in Portugal.
