At Smart Consulting, we’re looking for a Senior Data Cloud Architect to join our engineering organization and drive the design, implementation, and evolution of our next-generation cloud data platforms.We believe that data transforms businesses — and we want you to be part of that transformation.💻 What it takes to be a Senior Data Cloud Architect:10+ years of experience in cloud data engineering and architectureDeep expertise in AWS data services (Glue, Redshift, Lambda, Step Functions)Proven hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)Strong coding skills in Python and SQLSolid experience in data governance, security, and compliance frameworksBackground in large-scale data migrations, optimizations, and cloud-native solutionsAbility to design secure, scalable, and cost-efficient data architecturesStrong communication, leadership, and mentoring capabilitiesExperience working in European corporate environments, ideally in large-scale or regulated sectorsDegree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fieldFluency in English🧰 Nice to Have:Exposure to Azure data services and Azure DatabricksKnowledge of Kafka, Apache Flink, or streaming data architecturesExperience building CI/CD pipelines for data workloadsFamiliarity with Dataiku or similar data analytics platformsAWS or Azure cloud certifications🎯 What you’ll do as a Senior Data Cloud Architect:Design and implement scalable, secure, and cost-effective data architectures primarily on AWSLead end-to-end data engineering and cloud platform initiatives, from concept to deploymentDefine and maintain data governance and security standards across all environmentsBuild and optimize data pipelines, ETL processes, and orchestration workflows using Airflow, AWS Step Functions, Lambda, Glue, and related servicesApply IaC methodologies (Terraform, CloudFormation) for platform provisioning and managementUse Python and SQL to prototype, validate, and set technical baselines for data solutionsEnsure high performance and efficiency when handling large or complex datasetsManage and tune Iceberg tables, Redshift clusters, DuckDB workflows, and PostgreSQL environmentsCollaborate with cross-functional teams, acting as a technical authority, mentor, and architecture guardianSupport continuous improvements and best practices across data engineering and cloud architecture domains💡 Why join us?Work on high-impact data platforms driving real business valueA culture that values ownership, innovation, and technical excellenceContinuous learning investment — certifications, training, eventsAn environment built on trust, collaboration, and engineering maturityOpportunity to shape and lead cloud platform evolution at scale🌍 Where you’ll work:📍 Hybrid — Porto, 3 days per week on-siteCandidates must be based in Portugal.
