We are looking for a Junior / Mid Backend Software Engineer (Workflow & Automation) to join our Client's team on a hybrid working model.At Hexa Consulting, we’re more than an IT consulting company — we’re a place where tech talent grows. With projects in Nearshore, Time & Material, Service Management, and Tech Academies, you’ll find opportunities to learn, innovate, and advance your career.Work Model:Professionals living up to 70 km from the Lisbon office: 2 days per WEEK on-siteProfessionals living more than 70 km from the Lisbon office: 2 days per MONTH on-siteKey Responsibilities:Work closely with architects and systems analysts to understand software requirements and participate in solution designDesign and develop new features and improvements focused on automation, workflows, and AI-related projectsUse low-code platforms to build automation modules and develop Java-based or PHP-based componentsDevelop and integrate backend solutions following best practicesOrganize, prioritize, and manage development tasks effectivelyContribute to the technical growth and evolution of junior team membersParticipate in Agile ceremonies and continuous improvement initiativesRequired Qualifications:Degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field1–2 years of professional experience in similar software engineering rolesExperience in automation-focused projectsExperience with RPA / workflow solutions such as Flowable, BPMN, or CamundaSolid understanding of OOP concepts and backend development with Java OR PHP (experience in both is not required)Experience developing and consuming REST and SOAP web servicesGood understanding of relational databases (MySQL and SQL Server)Experience with Git and MavenStrong organizational skills and attention to detailTeam spirit, initiative, and good communication skillsExperience working with Agile methodologiesGood spoken and written Portuguese and EnglishWhy Join Us?Contract type: Indefinite / Employment OR B2B, based on your preferenceHealth Insurance: Comprehensive coverage for your well-beingHybrid Work Model: Flexible on-site presence adapted to your locationContinuous Learning: Access to a Udemy Business subscription with thousands of workshops and coursesTeam Culture: Collaborative, innovative, and people-first work environmentCareer Growth: Clear career progression and exposure to challenging, future-oriented projectsIf you meet the above criteria and are ready for an exciting opportunity in a dynamic environment, submit your CV
