Your Main Activities Are

  • BNP Paribas is looking for a Client Asset Protection Officer to assist the relevant SMF and SHF in discharging their duties. Prior experience essential to perform this role may have been acquired in a similar role in another financial institution, or possibly in an audit firm
  • Governance (management information and reporting)
  • Prepare, organise and minute the monthly oversight committees
  • Update key governance documents (eg. CASS Resolution Pack) in a timely manner and ensure appropriate controls are in place to be made aware of necessary changes
  • Periodically update the regulatory control plans (eg. CASS risk framework) with the relevant internal functions
  • Assist with the review all relevant policies, procedures and terms of reference periodically
  • Validate the CMAR report or equivalent on a monthly basis
  • Maintain the CASS SharePoint intranet site
  • Controls Oversight
  • Review the daily breaks reports and follow up on any potential incidents with Operations and relevant internal partners; escalate potential breaches in a timely manner as per the incident escalation procedure
  • Ensure that the CASS incident log is uptodate, complete and fit for purpose
  • Followup all incidents to ensure that there are appropriate remediation measures in place
  • Monitor potential shortfalls
  • Advisory and Projects (testing, monitoring and audit management)
  • Drive the changes around client asset regulation and internal setup with relevant internal partners
  • Keep a regulatory and industry watch together with legal and Compliance partners
  • Assist in statutory audits and any other internal or external audits in the Client Asset Protection area
  • Maintain the required level of awareness regarding client asset protection within BNPP staff (in particular by taking an active part in preparing and deploying training and monitoring attendance / completion levels including in person training)
  • Assist review the periodic online training program

Profile and Skills to Success

  • Bachelor Degree in Finance, Legal or Economics or similar fields
  • Experience in Prime Brokerage, Regulatory/Controls/Audit, CASS Regulation
  • Good communicator (written and oral) and helpful attitude
  • Good understanding of the prime brokerage business (eg. omnibus accounts, rehypothecation)
  • Able to challenge Operations processes and booking
  • Good understanding of client asset protection regulation and of the practices in this area. BNPP will provide additional training regarding custody rules
  • Rigorous audit & control mindset
