    About Siemens Technology Department
  • Siemens Technology is the central inhouse research unit at Siemens and as such occupies an outstanding position within Siemens' R&D facilities. It acts as a strategic partner to support Siemens' business units with R&D services, protects the company's intellectual property, coordinates the collaboration with top universities worldwide, and supports standardization activities in all business units and regions. Through its R&D activities in Germany, USA, Portugal, China, India, Japan, and Eastern Europe, Siemens Technology helps to secure the company's technological future and strengthen its ambition.
    What role will you play?
  • You define technical consulting projects in the area of software development and architecture design with a focus on distributed systems (edge computing, distributed computing, middleware, etc.) for inhouse customers.
  • You evaluate and use new technologies, bring in your ideas, implement them and evaluate them in an industrial context.
  • You design and develop tools and software components, possibly also as open source.
  • You will implement prototypes and proofs of concept in order to make new insights and technologies tangible for us and our customers.
  • You analyze, migrate, and optimize existing software and software components.

We are looking for:

  • You have a PhD or MSc in computer science or a related field.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in various programming languages (e.g. TypeScript, Go, Swift, Java, C++, Python,...).
  • Profound understanding and use open source tools and libraries.
  • You have at least 3+ years of experience in professional software development.
  • You have indepth knowledge of distributed systems, software architecture and software development, preferably Internet of Things, Edge and/or Cloud Computing.
  • You have advanced knowledge of communication technologies and basic knowledge of AI and machine learning.
  • Ideally, you have contributed to research and development in the areas of IoT, Middleware, Edge/Cloud Computing, software architecture or in related areas.
  • You have excellent analytical and conceptual skills.
  • Very good English skills.
