Senior Accounting and Tax Manager

This position can be based either in Portugal, Spain, Italy or Germany with a hybrid/remote set up.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of the accounting and tax functions within the organization, ensuring compliance with German GAAP and tax regulations (the holding is in Germany)
  • Manage the monthend and yearend closing processes, including financial statement preparation and analysis, following German GAAP guidelines
  • Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports prepared by the accounting team
  • Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors during audits and tax filings, providing necessary documentation and support
  • Manage implementation of a new ERP system
  • Manage the implementation and transition to IFRS
  • Develop and implement accounting and tax policies, procedures, and internal controls, aligned with accounting standards
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to the accounting team, fostering their professional development
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to support financial planning and analysis activities, offering insights on accounting and tax implications
  • Prepare and submit accurate and timely tax returns, ensuring adherence to local tax laws and regulations in Germany, and its subsidiaries
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, both internal and external, in both English and German when needed

Requirements:

- +5 years of experience in Accounting at a high growth startup or tech company

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or relevant certification preferred
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of German GAAP and tax regulations, as well as IFRS
  • Proven experience in accounting and tax management, preferably in a startup or Germanbased organization
  • Proficiency in English and German, both written and spoken, to effectively communicate with stakeholders
  • Indepth knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and tax compliance
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and remotely, while maintaining high productivity and meeting deadlines
