Admission Requirements:

Education:
Ph.
D. in Bioinformatics, Mathematics, Bioengineering, Biochemistry or related fields

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Experience with transcriptomics (RNAseq) data analysis, including differential gene expression and

pathway/gene set enrichment analysis

• Handson experience in programming environments like Bash, R, or Python
• Strong critical and analytical thinking, with ability to breakdown and tackle complex challenges

independently with minor guidance

• Solid interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work in a team
• Good organizational skills and ability to manage simultaneously projects/tasks with different deadlines
• Fluency in English (written and spoken)

Desirable Skills and Experience:

• Previous experience with singlecell RNAseq data analysis will be highly valued
• Knowledge of computational requirements and environment setup for RNAseq data analysis
• Experience in functional analysis of metabolomics and proteomics data, in addition to transcriptomics, will also be valued
• Experience in mentoring students
• Previous international research experience

Work Plan:

Activities will include:

• Establish tailored pipelines for singlecell and bulk RNAseq data analysis
• Setup computational environments required for RNAseq data analysis
• Contribute during experimental design to generate highquality and informationrich datasets
• Provide expert advice, guidance and training in transcriptomics to iBET researchers and students
• Work closely with scientists from different Labs, backgrounds and expertise within iBET
• Communicate resulting work in scientific presentations and manuscripts

Work Place:

The project will be developed at the Biosystems and Data Science Group of iBET, under scientific supervision of Inês Isidro.

Duration:

The fellowship will have a duration of 12 months, eventually renewed until the end of project, without prejudice of the maximum limits foreseen by law.

The expected starting date is 1st of July of 2023.

Selection Criteria:

• Phase 1: evaluation of CV merits, motivation, and experience regarding essential requirements in this

announcement (80%);

Applicants who do not meet the above admission requirements will not be eligible.
