The Position

The Senior Internal Auditor is a full-time position in the Internal Audit Department, based at Bial Headquarters in Porto and reporting to the Vice President of HR & Audit.

This role is responsible for leading comprehensive audits, evaluating adherence to regulations, industry standards and internal policies.

The Senior Internal Auditor plays a crucial role in contributing to process enhancement and overall compliance across the Bial Group.


Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive internal audits to assess and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards and internal policies.
  • Evaluate and enhance internal control processes to mitigate risks and optimize operational efficiency.
  • Prepare detailed audit reports and process review memos, reaching agreement on issues with management.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to gain insights into business processes, identify areas for improvement and provide valuable recommendations to management.
  • Independently lead and execute audit engagements, from planning and risk assessment to reporting and followup.
  • Establish effective business partnerships and advisory relationships with senior management, while maintaining independence and objectivity within the Internal Audit function.
  • Stay informed of industry trends, regulatory changes and emerging risks to ensure audit processes remain current and effective.
Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field (Economics, Finance, Law, etc.).
  • Certified C1 level in English language.
  • MBA and Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) are a plus.
Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as Internal Auditor.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry is a plus.
Skills and Abilities

  • Proven ability to lead and execute internal audits independently.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to work with a variety of internal stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail.
  • Sound planning, organising and implementation skills.
  • Ability to set priorities and quickly solve problems.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, data analytics tools and the Ms Office suite.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic and fastpaced work environment.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to 10% of the time).
