The Position


The Senior Manager, HR Operations, who acts as the head of HR operations, is a full-time position based at Bial Headquarters in Porto that reports to the Vice President of Human Resources and is responsible for providing support to the entire Bial Group on all HR Operations, as further detailed below.

The Senior Manager of HR Operations leads a team of four and fosters a culture of accountability and customer service.

In this role, the incumbent will ensure the cost-efficient use of resources and manage all HR administration processes and matters, including, but not limited to, work contracts, payroll and benefits, absences, employee databases, headcount monitoring, compliance to the local labour laws, etc.

She/he has a professional approach towards staff and is able to operate with a high degree of confidentiality.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver ontime, accurate and legislatively compliant payroll service to the Bial Group, maintaining data integrity and confidentiality.
  • Manage benefits and payroll and securely maintain required electronic employee records.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws across all Bial Group geographies.
  • Continuously improve or replace HR Operations systems, partnering with IT to develop future system roadmaps (including the automation of repeatable and predictable activity).
  • Ensure that HR Operations systems: (i) remain effective and efficient to meet business needs; (ii) are easy to use; (iii) provide accurate reports and meaningful insights; and (iv) provide the right level of digital engagement with business partners and all employees in general (including selfservice options).
  • Develop effective business relationships with peers and relevant internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain a sound understanding of legislative and compliance matters, resorting to external consultants as needed, and ensure all tasks performed meet these requirements.
  • Ensure an adequate management of employee admission and termination stages, with the support of legal counsels.
  • Foster collaborative working relationships across the Bial Group, leading the team to collaborate with full commitment to the business and each other to meet the business goals.

Education and Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant field (business administration, human resources, etc.)
  • Certified C1 level in Portuguese and English languages

  • High level leadership and people management skills, including the ability to coordinate and delegate tasks as required.
  • Generic knowledge of labour law frameworks.

Experience

  • Minimum of 6 years' experience in a Human Resources function.
