Viana do Castelo, Portugal The Garden Tempo inteiro

Operations Collaborator

This is partly a high-trust, high agency position and partly a role where you're working to execute clear instructions and vision.

You need to be a teamplayer and be very structured and flexible in your thinking.

There will be people working with you who you delegate to, and you will be working with Andre & Joy, who will delegate to you.

Some projects you will have full ownership, and some you will be running point and checking in regularly.

Perks:

Fruits and nuts from the garden, working in a stunning natural paradise, working with creative artists, builders, and visionaries from all over the world.

Portuguese is a plus, but not required

Work Culture:

We work with intensity and drive here and are passionate about this project.

We are restoring a beautiful estate and working with international artists, activists, builders, and visionaries to share and collaborate on this beautiful piece of land, creating the new cultural hub of Europe.

We work 6-7 days a week, and sometimes you'd be expected to work part-time or full-time on Saturdays (if this is a deal-breaker, we can discuss.).

This is not a typical 9-5.

However, if you have clear time boundaries, please let us know and we can see what can work for you.

We also know that play is important to stay in balance and stay passionate for an inspired life, so when we are not working, there are plenty of ways to play and flow here

This is a full-time, long-term position, but we would be willing to begin part time / part of the month as a trial.

We are currently building up our core team, so if this position speaks to you strongly but the conditions around it are not quite right for you, get in touch and let's see if we can find a mutually satisfying agreement.

A few short examples of the kinds of problems you'd solve:

Coordinating with a plumber or electrician to decide what works are necessary to restore the functionality of an old building.

Assessing a car with the mechanic before purchase and completing the purchase and transfer.

Ensuring that everything on the property is maintained (vehicles, tools, buildings, etc), and that systems are functioning and enforced.

Sourcing custom-made furniture or cabinetry from local suppliers.

Coordinating with local farmers for regular delivery or pick-up of bulk fruits & veggies.

Sourcing building materials, shipping containers and tools and arranging for them to be transported to a specific location.

Managing and paying invoices and basic accounting.

Arranging for wood to be collected from our property, taken to a mill, milled, and returned.

Managing and working with contractors to oversee the renovation of a room or building.

Possibility of being involved in the garden and farm elements of the property as well, depending on experience and interest.

We will be organizing several retreats and small festivals per year as well, which we'd like your help with.

We would like to begin with a trial period (1 month → +2 month → +3 month) to ensure that there is a good fit.

This is a liberal and dynamic space full of artists and builders, and we will have retreats here which may explore taboo topics.

You must be comfortable interacting with people of many cultures, backgrounds, and ways of life.
