The Role
In this role, you will lead actuarial teams and projects to ensure timely and successful outcomes. Responsibilities include managing risks, ensuring technical expertise and excellence, and promoting collaboration within and across teams. You will mentor team members, drive continuous improvement, and build strong stakeholder relationships while supporting new opportunities.
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Coordinate technical expertise on actuarial components of projects within the team, collaborating with other teams as needed.
- Oversee daily operations to ensure smooth, efficient team functioning, adherence to standards, and technical excellence.
- Allocate tasks and projects to team members based on their skills and workloads.
- Manage and maintain project plans, monitor progress to accurately reflect project scope, deliverables, and timelines, and promote collaboration within the team and across services.
- Identify and mitigate project risks, issues, and dependencies by implementing proactive measures to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Collaborate closely with other team leaders and members to understand and support workflow needs within the Retirement business.
- Build strong relationships and communicate effectively to understand stakeholders' needs and expectations.
- Support the development of new work/project opportunities and enhance existing relationships.
- Identify, assess, and address any risks or issues impacting team performance, implementing improvements as necessary.
- Train, mentor, and guide team members to strengthen performance and efficiency.
- Develop technical knowledge and upskill the team in the retirement field.
- Drive performance plans for the team, overcoming issues through coaching and practical learning and development solutions.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability within the team.
- Lead discussions around opportunities for continuous process improvement and communicate these to the leadership group.
You are the person that we are looking for if you have:
- Degree in a relevant field (Business, Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Management, etc.)
- 7+years' experience in a leadership and project manager positions
- Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
- Excellent planning and organisational skills in order to prioritise and effectively manage a wide variety of ongoing tasks, in order to meet the multiple deadlines
- Ability to multitask, prioritize workloads and sometimes work to tight deadlines
- Adherence to tight deadlines will be important
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders
- Proactive and goal oriented
- Technical knowledge in actuarial valuations is a plus
