Do you see yourself within these values?Founded in 2006 with the mission "To Challenge Complexity", Closer Consulting is a Data Science company specializing in Business Intelligence, Advanced Analytics, and Artificial Intelligence.Developing projects in the most diverse industries – Banking, Telecommunications, Healthcare, Retail, Energy, Insurance, and Aviation, among others –, we have created an environment where the brightest enquiring minds feel at home, providing our people with the means, opportunities and support they need to thrive and innovate.We're looking for a Cloud Architect ready to take on new challenges with our Closer team 🚀🌍 Hybrid model: 2 days per week onsite in Lisbon.Direct ResponsibilitiesDefine and design cloud-architecture solutions aligned with business objectives, security requirements, regulatory constraints, and enterprise technology strategy.Monitor cloud-hosted application portfolios (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS), assess risk and maturity, and manage migration roadmaps.Produce architectural blueprints, design patterns, and reference frameworks (e.g., cloud-design patterns, CI/CD, Infrastructure-as-Code).Advise engineering teams on cloud-native design, API strategy, DevOps practices, data-analytics, AI/ML integration, and open-source tooling (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Terraform, Ansible).Define and maintain governance processes: cloud-security standards, Secure Development Lifecycle practices (SCA, SAST, DAST), compliance controls, and cost-management policies.Track industry trends in cloud, AI/ML, APIs, and emerging technologies; provide guidance on adoption and best practices.Evaluate new tools and technologies; coordinate proofs-of-concept with internal teams and external partners.Troubleshoot complex architectural and platform issues, ensuring continuity and timely execution of migration initiatives.Communicate progress, risks, and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders through reports, presentations, and governance forums.Contributing ResponsibilitiesContribute to cloud strategy, ensuring alignment with security, compliance, data-sovereignty, and resiliency requirements.Support recruitment, onboarding, and knowledge-transfer activities within technical architecture and cloud teams.Mentor junior architects and developers; promote best practices and continuous improvement.Participate in cross-functional committees (e.g., API governance, AI/ML oversight, technology partnerships).Assist in defining service-level objectives and operational metrics for cloud solutions.Technical Skills (Required)Solution & Systems Architecture: Strong foundation in distributed systems, OOP, integration patterns, middleware, scalability, and resiliency.Cloud Platforms: Minimum 5 years of hands-on design, migration, and operation experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, IBM Cloud).Containers & IaC: Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker, Terraform, Ansible – architectural and implementation experience.Cloud-Native Application Design: Microservices architectures, API-driven systems, cloud-native development patterns.Secure Development Lifecycle: Familiarity with SCA, SAST, DAST, CSPM and integrating these tools into CI/CD pipelines.Cloud Design Patterns: Ability to document, apply, and enforce reusable patterns across multiple projects.Governance & Compliance: Understanding of regulatory and compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR) and their application in cloud environments.Communication & Stakeholder Management: Ability to clearly articulate complex technical topics to technical and business stakeholders.Technical Skills (Nice to Have)Experience with IBM Cloud services (Cloud Pak, OpenShift on IBM Cloud).Professional cloud or architecture certifications (AWS SA-Pro, Azure Architect, Google PCA, TOGAF, etc.).Familiarity with OpenStack.Exposure to the financial services, fintech, or payments industry.Awareness of data science concepts and data-driven architectures.We believe we are the ones to, by:Providing a multidisciplinary Team.Giving a home office kit with everything you need to perform remotely.Ensuring a career plan alongside professional growth.Providing you with a custom training plan.Helping you reach happiness.Oh… and by the way, we also have:Several challenging complex projects.Stimulating teams and leaders.World-class Clients and Partners.If you believe in this match as much as we do, send us your CV to barbara.jacinto@closer.pt and reach the closer side of life.Closer is a company that values diversity and inclusion.
