Location: Coimbra / Remote / HybridWe’re hiring a Director of Software Engineering to lead Spotlite’s software team. You’ll be responsible for scaling our development efforts, improving execution, and bringing AI tools into our software workflows. This role is key to delivering our predictive infrastructure monitoring platform across powerlines, roads, rail, and renewables.You’ll manage a team of frontend, backend, and full-stack engineers, drive architectural decisions, and work closely with Product and Geospatial Engineering to ship features that matter.What You’ll OwnTeam Leadership & ExecutionManage, grow, and mentor the software engineering teamOwn engineering velocity and qualityEnsure reliable delivery of product roadmap milestonesArchitecture & Technical DirectionGuide architectural decisions with performance, scalability, and maintainability in mindDrive best practices in code quality, testing, and CI/CDCoordinate with the Head of Data and Head of ProductAI-Driven DevelopmentChampion AI tools across development workflows (e.g. GitHub Copilot, automated testing, code generation)Partner with ML team to bring model outputs into customer-facing productsCross-Functional CollaborationWork closely with Product to translate specs into delivery plansCollaborate with ML, Geospatial, and Infrastructure teamsImprove internal processes (development, planning, documentation, feedback loops)Hiring & Team GrowthLead recruitment and onboarding for software rolesSet clear goals, expectations, and feedback cycles for the teamWhat We’re Looking ForMust-HavesProven leadership in software engineering (Team Lead, Engineering Manager, or Director level)Experience in fullstack web development and cloud infrastructureTrack record of managing engineers and shipping production softwareComfortable with product-driven development and fast iterationFamiliarity or hands-on use of AI tools in engineering workflowsBonusExperience with geospatial data, remote sensing, or satellite platformsWorked in early-stage B2B SaaS startupsExposure to ML Ops or deploying AI models into productionWhy Join SpotliteSpotlite is building next-generation infrastructure monitoring using satellite data and predictive analytics.
