Senior Database Administrator

We are looking for a Senior Database Administrator to provide Level 3 support for critical database environments supporting a Custody business. This role combines hands-on DBA responsibilities with project ownership and close collaboration with internal teams and external vendors.Role OverviewYou will be responsible for ensuring database stability, performance and best practices across development and production environments. The role involves deep troubleshooting, project-driven enhancements and continuous improvement of database platforms.Key ResponsibilitiesProjects & Change Management• Gather and document technical requirements for system enhancements and updates.• Drive change requests, ensuring alignment between business needs and technical solutions.• Lead technical testing and validation prior to production deployment.• Own initiatives end-to-end, from launch to delivery, tracking progress and deadlines.• Identify system gaps, inefficiencies and risks, proposing concrete improvement actions.• Enforce project standards and ensure consistency across technical deliverables.• Coordinate with stakeholders (business, developers, vendors) and provide regular status updates.Database Support & Operations• Provide Level 3 support for live production systems.• Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues (CPU, memory, query tuning, application bottlenecks).• Perform root-cause analysis and implement permanent fixes for recurring incidents.• Monitor database infrastructure (availability, disk usage, logs, backups and network events).• Support global teams across different regions.• Manage application databases, including installations, patching, data import/export and ETL processes.• Develop and maintain ad-hoc and scheduled database reports.• Perform routine DBA activities: backup and recovery, user access management, security and health checks.Required Skills & Experience• 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator (DBA).• Strong hands-on expertise with Oracle Database 12c / 19c (mandatory).• Proven experience in performance tuning (indexes, queries, optimization and troubleshooting).• Experience with database lifecycle management, including data cleanup, archival and automation.• Exposure to other database engines (PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server) is a plus.• Experience contributing to IT infrastructure planning, sizing and implementation.Hybrid role with up to 50% remote work per month in Lisbon
