Malwarebytes is looking for a collaborative, motivated, and inspiring individual to join our UX team as a UX Research Director. You will play a strategic role in leading our UX research efforts, driving user insights, and shaping the direction of our products and services.
This role will report directly to the VP of UX and Insights.

What You'll Do:

Research Strategy:

  • Develop and drive the overall UX research strategy and roadmap aligned with the company's goals and objectives.
  • Define research objectives, methodologies, and approaches to generate impactful user insights.
  • Advocate for user-centric design principles and ensure research informs product development decisions.

Team Leadership and Management:

  • Lead, manage and grow a team of UX researchers.
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to foster the professional growth and development of team members.
  • Set clear expectations, define goals, and conduct regular performance evaluations to ensure the team's success.

Research Execution and Insight Generation:

  • Oversee the planning, execution, and analysis of user research studies across multiple projects and initiatives.
  • Utilize a range of qualitative and quantitative research methods to uncover user behaviors, needs, and preferences.
  • Synthesize research findings into actionable recommendations and collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate user insights into product strategy and design.
  • Provide the necessary training to UX team members to expand our UX Research capabilities.

Stakeholder Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, engineers, and other stakeholders to align research objectives and priorities.
  • Effectively communicate research findings and insights to stakeholders at various levels, including executives, to inform decision-making.
  • Advocate for the value of UX research and educate stakeholders on its impact on business outcomes and user satisfaction.

Research Operations and Infrastructure:

  • Establish and optimize research processes, methodologies, and workflows to enhance efficiency and scalability.
  • Implement and manage research tools, platforms, and resources to support the research team's needs.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging research methods, and best practices to continually evolve and improve research operations.
  • Optimize for remote research.

Collaboration with External Partners:

  • Collaborate with external research agencies and partners to leverage their expertise and expand research capabilities, where appropriate.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, negotiate contracts, and ensure high-quality deliverables.

Skills You'll Need to Have:

  • 8 years of experience leading UX research initiatives, with a focus on user-centered design and research methodologies.
  • 5 years of experience leading and managing a team of UX researchers and research professionals.
  • Strong understanding of research methodologies, including qualitative and quantitative techniques.
  • Proficiency in research tools and platforms such as UserZoom, UserTesting, Qualtrics, etc.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively articulate research findings and insights.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, including executives, to drive user-centric decision-making.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in UX research, HCI, psychology, or a related field.

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Cybersecurity domain knowledge is a plus.
  • Experience leading distributed teams.
