COMPETITION FOR RECRUITMENT OF AN ASSISTANT RESEARCHER

1 – Title

ASSISTANT RESEARCHER

An external call of international selection is launched for recruitment, under a contractual tie of indefinite-term employment in public functions, of an Assistant Researcher in the scientific field of Electronic and Instrumentation Engineering integrated in the permanent staff of LNEC.

This notice has been prepared in compliance with article 24 (1) of Decree-Law no. 124/99 and with the Institutional Support Competition Procedure – FCT-TENURE 1st edition.

3 – Financing source

The competition is launched under the contract-program for funding the hiring under an indefinite-term contract for the scientific research career.

4 – Nature of the competition

The competition consists of the assessment of the curriculum vitae and the scientific work of the candidate(s).

5 – Functional content

The assistant researcher shall be responsible for carrying out research and development activities, collaborating with a team of researchers, engineers, and experts in structural health monitoring (SHM) from various disciplines. The goal is to advance the knowledge in the fields of smart sensor networks and integrated SHM systems, focusing on designing, developing, and optimizing electronic hardware and firmware tailored for smart sensor nodes and networks.

His/her tasks include supervising undergraduate, postgraduate, master's, and doctoral students' theses, disseminating non-confidential research results, and participating in LNEC collegial bodies.

  • document indicating up to 5 most relevant works or activities developed in the scientific field mentioned in the present notice;
  • declaration of commitment stating no legal public employment relationship for an indefinite-term;
  • document attesting a fixed-term contract or scholarship in an institution of National Science and Technology System.

Candidates who have obtained a doctorate degree from foreign universities must present documentary evidence of the recognition of that degree by a Portuguese university.

REQUIREMENTS

General requirements

  • Holders of a doctorate degree in the scientific field of the competition or related fields, with relevant scientific curriculum.

Candidates must be proficient in the Portuguese language.

Preferential conditions

The candidate must have professional expertise in electronic hardware design, embedded systems, and firmware development.

Fluency in English and Portuguese (oral and written) is a must.

The base remuneration corresponds to levels 53 and 54 of TRU (€ 3,501.28 or €2,334.19, respectively).

The candidates must state the scientific area in which they are integrated.

16 – Selection process and criteria

The competition consists of the assessment of the candidate's curriculum vitae and scientific work.

The lists of admitted and excluded candidates as well as the final score of the competition shall be published on LNEC's website.

The appraisal may be complemented by an interview.

The present competition is subject to the provisions of Decree-Law no. 124/99.
