Our client, a Silicon Valley company specialising in Vertical AI SaaS solutions, collaborates with top firms worldwide in industries such as accounting, consulting, investment banking, legal, private capital, and real assets. They're looking for a PostgreSQL Database Administrator to join their growing team at their new Research & Development centre in Lisbon. In this role, you'll be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical Postgres systems, ensuring their security, availability and consistent performance.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Assist Senior DBAs: Help with configuring and maintaining database servers and processes to ensure smooth operations.
  2. Support Developers and Engineers: Collaborate with developers and software engineers to assist with SQL querying and optimisation.
  3. Troubleshooting and Communication: Perform basic troubleshooting, demonstrate strong communication skills, and handle administrative tasks effectively.
  4. Performance Tuning: Apply basic knowledge of performance tuning and troubleshooting to improve database efficiency.
  5. System Monitoring: Regularly monitor the health and performance of database systems.
  6. Automation: Automate routine database maintenance tasks to improve reliability and efficiency.

What You Bring

  1. PostgreSQL Experience: As this is a junior role, direct DBA experience isn't required—1 year of experience as a PostgreSQL developer or basic database administration is a great starting point, as training will be provided.
  2. High Availability & Disaster Recovery: Familiarity with designing and implementing High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions.
  3. Performance Tuning Expertise: Experience with performance tuning and optimisation to ensure database efficiency.
  4. Scripting Knowledge: Proficiency in Bash and/or Python scripting languages.
  5. Self-motivation, Teamwork, & Time Management: Highly self-motivated with excellent teamwork skills, along with the ability to manage time effectively and prioritise tasks.
  6. Communication & Critical Thinking: Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to documentation, and excellent problem-solving abilities with a critical mindset.
  7. Fluent in English: You can speak and write English confidently and clearly.
