Collegiate Faculty, Counseling Department of Applied Sciences 12-Month Collegiate Faculty Location: Remote General Summary Contributes to the quality of the program including modeling and demonstrating best teaching practices; teaches students course material as established by the curriculum, develops new material, and evaluates student performance. Represents the highest level of the faculty track. Position supports the new Master of Science in Clinical Professional Counseling program. 
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Ensures students receive a top-quality education where students can acquire knowledge, develop learning mastery, and strengthen career skills.
Mentors, coaches, and facilitates student learning. Teaches a specified number of courses each year.
Assesses student performance and progress.
Demonstrates and models highly effective teaching practices for other faculty. Identifies program competencies and participates in the development of learning demonstrations for the new academic model. Mentors and coaches other program faculty.
Works with the program director and other faculty to ensure the broader program meets student needs and quality standards including assessments of program standards. Provides updates to the program director on classroom activities.
Consults with the program director to develop instructional plan or syllabus for courses and ensures that it meets department and university standards. Identifies, refines, and updates open learning resources.
May conduct or assist colleagues in conducting independent research to advance knowledge in the field.
May serve on academic or administrative committees, make recommendations on curriculum development, advise on hiring or promotions within the department, and perform other job duties as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in Counseling Psychology, Counselor Education, or a closely related field from an accredited institution of higher learning.
Minimum of five (5) years of academic and/or professional experience. Exceptions to terminal degrees may be made for individuals who have additional professional and/or academic experience.
Demonstrated resourcefulness in teaching new course material in ways that are easy to understand; potential for teaching effectiveness;  relevant and effective service and/or professional activity, and/or an outstanding record of scholarship commensurate with UMGC's mission
Preferred Qualifications An earned?doctorate or other terminal degree from a regionally accredited institution in Counseling Psychology, Counselor Education, or a closely related discipline.?  
Licensed or license-eligible (pending state-specific requirements) as a licensed professional counselor in at least one U.S. state 
Evidence of remote teaching experience of professional counseling or clinical mental health courses in synchronous and asynchronous formats 
Demonstrated ability to develop master's and undergraduate-level clinical counseling courses
Experience supervising, mentoring, and advising students, including practicum and internship 
Professional experience and dedication to working with diverse populations.
Teletherapy delivery experience with an understanding of expanding teletherapy regulatory requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Counseling Skills: knowledge and sound application of clinical professional counseling ethics, principles, methods, procedures, and standards; culturally responsive counseling; ability to maintain confidentiality, think critically, and exercise independent judgment.
Leadership & Communication: strong interpersonal, written, oral, and listening communication skills with the ability to build rapport quickly; strong ability to manage time and prioritize tasks; able to work independently; detail-oriented.
Technology Proficiency: Microsoft Office; video conferencing software; familiarity with telehealth delivery platforms
