Offer DescriptionRECRUITMENT AND SELECTION PROCESS FOR AN ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN THE DISCIPLINARY AREA OF ECONOMICS AT THE FACULTY OF ECONOMICS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF PORTO António de Sousa Pereira, Full Professor at the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences of the University of Porto and Rector of the same University, hereby announces that a recruitment procedure is open for a period of 30 working days, starting from the working day following the publication of this notice. This recruitment process aims to select an Assistant Professor on an indefinite employment contract for the disciplinary area of Economics, particularly in the domain of Macroeconomics.
1. Admission to the recruitment process: Candidates who hold a doctoral degree will be admitted.
Holders of academic degrees awarded by foreign higher education institutions must have their doctoral degree recognized.
2. Absolute merit 2.1. If there are no grounds for rejecting applications for failure to comply with the provisions of the previous paragraph, the Selection Committee will decide whether or not to approve them on absolute merit.
2.3. Candidates' approval on absolute merit will depend on their cumulative fulfillment of the following conditions:
The candidate must hold a PhD in Economics or another area deemed appropriate;The candidate must possess a curriculum whose merit the selection committee considers to reflect a scientific and pedagogical level, research capacity, and professional activity compatible with the disciplinary area and academic rank for which the position is open;The candidate must have a curriculum vitae that demonstrates solid competencies in at least one of the core areas of Economics: Macroeconomics and Econometrics.The candidate must have, in the last five years, at least one article published or accepted for publication in ranked journals.3. Selection Process The selection process for candidates admitted to the recruitment process will occur in two phases: Curriculum Assessment (CA) and Interview (I).
3.1. Curriculum Assessment (CA): In the curriculum assessment process, the following aspects will be considered:
Scientific Merit Aspect (SMA - 60%): This aspect will consider scientific research activities in the field of Economics.Pedagogical Merit Aspect (PMA - 20%): This aspect will consider pedagogical activities in the field of Economics.Scientific-Pedagogical Project (20%): This project should outline the scientific and pedagogical domains that the candidate proposes to develop.3.2. Interview (I): 3.2.1. The interview takes place in the second phase of the process, complementing the curriculum assessment.
4. Deliberations of the Selection Committee The Selection Committee will decide on the approval and ranking of candidates by means of a reasoned roll-call vote.
5. Duties to be performed: The duties to be performed are described in the Regulations for the Conclusion of Employment Contracts for Teaching Staff at the University of Porto.

Notifications and Hearing of Interested Parties The Human Resources Service will notify candidates of the decisions made regarding the competitive procedure.
The assistant professor will be hired for an indefinite period with a probationary period of five years.
