Joom is an international group of eCommerce companies founded in 2016 in Latvia.Joom currently includes the following businesses: Joom Marketplace, a platform for shopping from all over the world; Onfy, a pharmaceutical marketplace in Germany; JoomPro, a tech-enabledturnkey solution for B2B importing goods from China, and Joom Pulse, a data platform that provides analytics and recommendations for marketplace sellers. Joom's offices are located in Latvia, China, Hong Kong, the USA, Germany, Brazil, and Portugal. Joom Group has HQ in Lisbon, Portugal.We are seeking an experienced Payments Lawyer to join our international legal team. This role will involve providing legal support for Joom's global payments structure, including managing contracts and compliance, working closely with payment partners, and staying up-to-date with international payment legislation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in international law, a business-focused approach, and an ability to adapt quickly to a dynamic and diverse environment.ResponsibilitiesSupport the payments infrastructure across Joom's Group companiesReview contracts and conduct negotiations with payment partnersProvide compliance support for payment partner assessmentsConduct legal research on payment legislation across different countriesAssess counterparties and their ownership structures in terms of sanctionsDraft, update, and maintain agreements, policies, procedures, letters, and other documentsRequirements3+ years of experience in legal support for international structures, with a specific focus on paymentsStrong expertise in payment systems, including acquiring, payment processing, and working with payment service providersExperience in obtaining EMI (Electronic Money Institution) and PI (Payment Institution) licensesAbility to quickly navigate new business situations and diverse areas of international lawBusiness-oriented approach with a focus on minimizing bureaucracyFluent EnglishPreferredExperience in corporate lawBackground in payment companies or familiarity with PSD2, payment system rules, and PCI DSS standardsExperience working in international IT companiesWe are offeringFlexible working hours and 22 days of paid annual leaveWork from our office in Lisbon, PortugalRelocation package to Lisbon, Portugal, if neededExtended health insurance for the employees and their children, including dental care coverageStock options plan100% paid sick leavesPersonal development: professional events, workshops, English classes, corporate libraryDaily meal allowanceAnnual team retreatsBefore applying for the above position please review our Candidate Privacy Notice here.
