EDP NEW - Centre for New Energy Technologies is a R&D centre created in 2015. Our mission is to create possibilities for EDP to lead the energy transition and we want to consolidate our position as a top-tier R&D centre, focused on energy. We imagine a decarbonized and distributed world, with active customers and heavily leveraged by digital technologies.
We are an international team of more than 50 people. With almost 40 projects and close to 40 M€ of European funding secured for EDP, we are an important part of the Group's innovation ecosystem.
We work mainly in international projects under the European Commission's large research and innovation funding programmes Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe, as well as other competitive financing for R&D.
We are setting up a new team to work on recently awarded projects, so we need to grow our team.
Job Description: Participating/leading international Research and Development (R&D) projects primarily in the areas of Renewable Energy/Fuels and Energy Storage: Leading/contributing to various aspects of project implementation, including budget management, financial and technical reporting, interaction with stakeholders, communication of project progress and outcomes, etc. Writing specifications and use cases, project reports, defining systems architectures, conducting and developing laboratory and pilot validation Overseeing demonstrators on site and coordinate /support field teams Leading/supporting the elaboration of business cases, development of techno-economic models and innovative business models for the technology-based concepts developed Leading and/or providing thorough technical expertise in the sourcing and conduction of applications for new projects / financing, writing proposals, forming international consortia, negotiating budgets, etc; Developing and providing expertise in new solutions and tools for use in European projects, in international consultancy projects and for business units within the EDP group Support for the development of the topics of Renewable Energy Integration & Flexibility in the EDP group, namely in the domains of innovations in energy management systems, energy storage (including hydrogen) and demand-side response. Contributing to international engineering consultancy projects and service provisions. What kind of profile are we looking for? Degree, Master or Doctorate in Electrical Engineering (preferably with majors / minors in Energy), Physics, Mechanical Engineering or Energy and Environmental Engineering or closely related academic areas provided curricula include topics on Energy Professional Experience: Knowledge and/or experience in Renewable Energy Technologies and strategies to integrate them on the electrical grid namely by exploiting flexible assets (e.g., energy storage technologies, demand-side response) Knowledge and/or experience in modern Power Systems and Energy Markets is also valuable Programming experience, preferably in Python International mindset and excellent knowledge and use of English (in written and oral expression) Capacity to execute and deliver rigorous and well-balanced results in a timely manner, combined with flexibility and agility to work on various themes / projects A great team spirit, openness and ability to interact daily with internal and external stakeholders on various topics Good domain of Microsoft Office Tools: Excel, Word, Power Point Availability for short-term international trips (within the scope of the projects) Immense motivation, strong desire to learn, curiosity and a taste for challenging ideas and proposing new solutions. Doctorate in an area relevant for the position Previous working experience in EU-funded projects (under FP7, Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe or similar) Knowledge of current Energy Policies and Strategies in Europe and initiatives and funding programs at the European Commission Knowledge of other languages (namely French, Spanish or Mandarin) As an EDP employee, you will have: Employment contract for an uncertain term Salary compatible with the function and experience About EDP As a socially responsible company, we incorporate the principles of Diversity and Inclusion into our values and practices.
