The RoleThe Delivery Lead will focus on making software delivery things happen within an engaged, supported and motivated team environment.
They will provide the transparency (via tooling), facilitation and optimisation of the product & software delivery machine within a value stream to ensure maximum effectiveness of the squads within the value stream.
The role will optimise the delivery lifecycle to enable regular release of value, bring predictability to change and ensure delivery balances product, engineering, quality assurance, service operations and architectural goals.
The role will work in close partnership with the Engineering Manager, Quality Assurance, Product Manager, Architect / Principal Engineer and Service Operations to manage transformation and continuous improvement for their value stream and the squads within.
The role will also coach the Engineering Manager and Product Owner in the continuous improvement of squads, and contribution of squad members to the delivery process.
What You'll Be DoingEnable and support autonomous squads, to be maximally effective through transparent, objective measurement and action: Emphasize the importance of teaching, helping others to help themselves.Management of dependencies, go / no-go decisions, and delivery forecasting and metrics e.g.
Cycle Time.Teach the effective operation of delivery (inc. stand-ups, retrospectives etc.
)Work in close partnership with Senior Engineering Manager and Lead Product Manager to manage transformation and continuous improvement for their value stream;Coach Engineering Manager and Product Owner in transformation and continuous improvement of their squads;Provide transparent delivery roadmaps and delivery health for the value stream to the Tribe;Forecast and communicate delivery dates and delivery health regularly to the Tribe and stakeholders;Champion a continuous improvement culture within and between value streams, leveraging transparent metrics including productivity, predictability, people engagement, and quality;Advocate for the importance of removing waste, balancing workload, and improving dependency processes within and outside the team.Be a Thought leader and teacher of Agile practices, intelligent tooling, emphasizing the importance of social learning.Ensure a motivating, engaging and happy atmosphere for delivery; What You'll BringCommercially Savvy: Makes it their business to be aware and anticipate emerging external factors and changing market dynamics; constantly explores and analyses future scenarios and possibilities to help the Group respond to change and shape the future; has deep understanding of business drivers and the industry to guide decisions and lead others;Wins Together: Gains trust and support of others, generous with time, advice and knowledge; is able to establish and engage networks to get stuff done rather than depend on authority; seeks out opportunities to break down barriers and collaborate and partner across organisational boundaries;Game Changer: Takes smart organisational risks to drive game changing innovations; champions new initiatives and encourages others to find improved ways to tackle challenges; fosters an environment which nurtures diverse thinking to promote curiosity and nurture innovation;Effective Communicator: Provides clarity on business goals; is effective in all types of communication; adjusts communication style to fit the audience; consistently communicates the mission, vision and values to inspire, energise and motivate others throughout the Group; ensures others understand how their efforts positively impact the bigger picture; creates an environment that encourages effective communication and the sharing of diverse perspectives;Quality Decision Maker: Makes quality, long and short-term decisions at pace considering various inputs and through collaborating effectively; provides tools to empower teams to make decisions; regularly practices and encourages cross-functional problem solving and decision making; We'd Like You To Master InDemonstrated leadership and problem-solving skills;Prior delivery manager / lead experience;Has an eye for continuous improvement needs and frameworks to enable improvement;Experience working in software delivery and understanding the delivery process;Ability to engage with and get the best out of people in teams;Ability to work through a large set of unknowns and translate them into effective plans;Experience of leading teams (or virtual teams) and developing talent;Strong knowledge of sports betting and trading technology environments and the products that are built thereon.
