.The Cedar Rapids City Assessor's Office is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Residential Appraiser to join the team. This office plays a crucial role in maintaining fair and equitable assessments throughout our community. The Residential Appraiser determines the assessed value of residential and agricultural properties for the Cedar Rapids City Assessor's Office, including but not limited to, answering inquiries regarding the assessment process.About the City Assessor's OfficeThe Assessor is charged with several administrative and statutory duties; however, the primary duty and responsibility is to cause to be assessed all real property within his/her jurisdiction except that which is otherwise provided by law.Job Duties & ResponsibilitiesMeasures, lists, and values new construction projects, plats and other field projects; Revalues and sets valueson existing properties in the residential and agricultural classes; Makes recommendations tothe Board of Review for the valuation of properties; Analyzes inspection dataand makes appropriate changes to existing records and assessments; Performs analysis of assessments for the assigned purpose of recommending changes in assessments and revaluation projects; Analyzes and compares the level of assessment of different neighborhoods to maintain consistency in the reflected market value of assessments; Reads and interprets blueprints, plats, and condominium articles and amendments; Handles appeals that come before the Cedar Rapids Board of Review, including but not limited to, performing on-site inspections and completing market studies for area and equity; Under supervision, provides support and testimony in litigation at the District Court and Iowa Property Assessment Appeal Board level; Conducts a final inspection upon completion of building construction to determine an assessed value; Answers information requests from property owners regarding the assessment process; Performs all work dutiesand activities in accordance with City policies, procedures, and safety practices; Attends meetings, conferences and workshops; Performs related work asrequired
