The Role Our technology is used by thousands of companies and affects millions of lives. You will be responsible for the quality of software development and deployment. You will be involved in performing and creating automated and manual tests to ensure the software created by developers is fit for purpose. Some of the duties include analysis of software, and systems, mitigate risk and prevent software issues.
The key areas of responsibility for the Junior QA Engineer include:
• Software Testing
• Technical Innovation
Responsibilities Test technical solutions including complex components, ensuring that quality standards are achieved. Collaborate closely with other team members and departments Execute all levels of testing (System, Integration, and Regression) Analysing user stories and/use cases/requirements for validity and feasibility Work alongside their peers to help to design and develop automation scripts when needed Detect and track software defects and inconsistencies Provide timely execution of tests. Apply quality engineering principals throughout the Agile product lifecycle Determine and agree quality procedures, standards or specifications and ensure that they are always met Estimate effort required to accomplish requirements and ensure that schedules are met. Ensure that technical product is tested accurately, based on best practice standards, and on time and support the business objectives. Make suggestions to improve and support the testing lifecycle. Communicate frequently with QA, Scrum Master and Development Manager. Take responsibility for your own personal development, ensuring that knowledge and skills are up to date and maintained, including emerging trends that may be relevant for solutions being developed. Continuously strive for innovative solutions and make suggestions for improvements that will provide a benefit to the business in terms of improved efficiency, effectiveness and productivity. Be willing to listen to and support colleagues with professional problems, devoting time to share knowledge, infusing confidence and expressing positive expectations. The essentials we need from you: Previous experience or a keen interest in a pursuing a career as a QA Engineer Tenacious, energised and motivated with a high level of commitment and passion towards achieving quality excellence. Strong team player with ability to work within an Agile / Scrum framework. Willingness to support other team members to support team goals. Solution orientated with a positive, can-do attitude and an ability to work under pressure. Excellent oral, presentation and written communication skills. Confident and able to work alongside strong personalities within the business Strong technical, analytical and problem solving-skills Experience of working in a manual testing role in a software environment, developing and executing tests to validate system functionality against specifications. Ability to detect and track software defects and inconsistencies. Demonstrable understanding of the principles of test automation as applied to Windows desktop applications. – (Role dependent e.g., if it's for desktop or web) Ability to follow test plans, documentation and reports as required. Previous experience with automated testing tools for desktop applications, for example Sikuli and TestComplete – (dependent on which product the role applies to) Good concept of automated test frameworks Awareness of current trends and developments in software testing Good understanding about Agile (Scrum) methodologies Good knowledge of quality standards, legislation and best practice. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
