What You'll Do Epic Games is looking for a Backend Security Engineer focused on Asset Integrity to protect sensitive game assets from unintended information disclosure. Your efforts will be critical to the success of Fortnite and the many creators who depend on it. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in backend development and have prior experience developing security features. This is an incredible opportunity to contribute to the next generation of Epic's game development tools.
In this role, you will Directly contribute code and be a code owner for multiple services and code basesCollaborate with the Fortnite, Unreal Engine, and Epic Games Store teams to understand the security implications of existing and upcoming features, proposing changes if appropriateWork with internal and external UEFN development teams, including well-known brands, to address concerns about asset integrity and information disclosureInvestigate technical root causes of unintended information disclosure incidentsProactively seek out components in Fortnite backend services that create asset integrity risks, then clearly communicate the problem and recommended solutionBuild and improve internal tooling at scale to protect the Epic creator ecosystemHandle various real-time issues that may arise on online services and platformsWhat we're looking for 3+ years of software engineering experience, with experience in backend development for gamesExpert knowledge in one or more of the following programming languages: C++, Java, Go, or TypeScriptDeep understanding of distributed systems and design patternsStrong knowledge of AWS/Cloud infrastructure including code-as-infrastructure (e.g. Terraform)Experience building & managing distributed systems, designing APIs, and deploying services (e.g. Kubernetes)Experience working with data analytics to solve, prevent, or monitor for problemsKnowledge and/or experience mitigating security vulnerabilities in sandboxes / virtual machines and potential mitigation strategiesExperience building or working with CI/CD environmentsExperience working with building and deploying container imagesEPIC JOB + EPIC BENEFITS = EPIC LIFE We pay 100% for benefits for both employees (EEs) and dependents (deps).
