Senior Business Analyst Job Description
At SUSE, we are committed to harnessing the power of data to drive business growth and innovation. We are seeking a Senior Business Analyst to play a pivotal role in translating business needs into data-driven solutions that add value across the organization.
As a Senior Business Analyst at SUSE, you will play a crucial role in connecting the dots between technical and non-technical teams. You will work across various departments to gather, analyze, and document business requirements, transforming them into actionable insights and data solutions that drive business value. Your work will directly impact strategic initiatives and projects aimed at improving data quality, customer analysis, reporting and analytics and cultural awareness across the organization.
The role sits within the Enterprise Data Management Team, reporting into the Head of Data Analytics, Strategy and Governance who is Dublin based. The position can be either hybrid or remote.
Focus Areas Act as the bridge between technical and non-technical teams, gathering detailed requirements, writing user stories, and creating acceptance criteria to ensure alignment with business goals.Engage with key stakeholders across various departments (Finance, Sales, Revenue Operations, etc.) and senior business leaders to understand their needs, challenges, and goals. Gather and document business requirements, facilitate clear communication, and analyze these requirements to translate them into actionable insights for technical solutions, fostering a collaborative environment throughout the process.Partner with cross-functional teams to drive insights that enhance SUSE's customer understanding and engagement.Work closely with the leadership team to refine business requirements from high-level concepts into actionable deliverables.Translate complex or ambiguous business requirements into clear, concise technical documentation. Ensure all stakeholders have a shared understanding of project objectives, scope, and deliverables.Run workshops using proven techniques for creating detailed business, functional and non-functional requirements.Work closely with data engineers, data scientists, and BI analysts to design and deliver data solutions that address business problems, improve data quality, and drive strategic decision-making.Identify opportunities to improve existing business processes, systems, and data flows. Provide recommendations for optimizing efficiency, reducing working in silos and enhancing data-driven decision-making.Support the development of data-driven reports and dashboards using tools like Power BI, ensuring data accuracy and relevance.Stay curious and proactive in learning about SUSE's data landscape, systems, and emerging technologies that can enhance our data capabilities.Actively participate in the modernization of the function including providing feedback on automation and leading specific efforts, as needed. Desired Experience & Skills Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.5+ years of experience in business analysis, with a focus on data-driven environments.Experience in designing and developing BI solutions, including data modeling, reports, and dashboards using Power BI.Ideally experience in Customer 360 initiatives or similar projects aimed at developing a single view of the customer across multiple systems.Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, SQL). Familiarity with data governance principles and data warehousing concepts is a plus.Proven ability to create clear, unambiguous documentation (e.g., user stories, business requirements, process flows, executive summaries).Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively. Personal Attributes Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
