Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)

The British Embassy in Lisbon is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking to recruit a **Receptionist **that will be responsible for reception and public switchboard calls.

**Roles and Responsibilities**:

- Be the first point of contact for the public and visitors to the British Embassy in Lisbon;
- Management of the switchboard answering calls, providing accurate and updated information to callers;
- Support the Security Team as the front office for general callers, visitors and parking authorisation;
- Provide advice and guidance to British Nationals and other eligible members of public when dealing with consular cases in line with consular services rules.
- Daily distribution of newspapers and incoming and outgoing mail;
- Any other duties as required to support the Corporate Services Team.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience
- Full professional proficiency in English and Portuguese (written and spoken, minimum of C1 level for CEFR framework*);
- Highly-developed front-line customer service management skills acquired in a business environment, with a clear commitment to excellent customer service;
- Excellent planning and organisational skills with proven ability to prioritise tasks;
- Ability to work effectively and supportively with colleagues and contacts in the immediate and wider team;
- Flexible, resilient under pressure and decisive with a proven track record of delivering results to a high standard within tight deadlines;
- Good sense of organisation and communication;
- Microsoft Office Tools proficiency;
- Experience of handling difficult customers.

Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
- Previous experience of working for a diplomatic mission an advantage;
- Experience or knowledge of working in an international environment;
- Experience in diary management and acting as a personal assistant.
