About the role

Production UW, A&H - Portugal, reporting to the A&H Manager, Portugal will contribute by underwriting new & renewal business, developing, and maintaining relationships with new and existing brokers, building strong client relationships, and working to carry out agreed strategies.

What you need to know:
Drive A&H Business Strategies and Execution
- Manage underwriting to achieve profitable growth, including underwriting new business, renewals, quotes, and other transactions.
- Identify new business opportunities by driving, maintaining, and tracking a rich pipeline
- Execution of A&H Sales Plan and budget drivers
- Engage and develop our network of over 200 Brokers & Agents, professional associations, and Wholesaler Brokers
- Expand active Agency Network and increase footprint in areas with recognized market potential
- Develop and lead strategic initiatives to grow in traditional A&H segments achieving New Business Budget
- Provide technical advice to the Brokers and Agents when required.
- Initiate and organize events, seminars, trainings, and other promotional activities in line with LOB growth strategy
- Conduct regular sales activities such as joint field work with producers and monthly engagement events as well as trainings with targeted producers
- Work closely with Distribution Team, ensuring focus on new business generation, and help in Marketing and Communication activities.
- Manage relationships with Clients & Brokers and ensure that internally the organization is moving forward to support business execution.
- Develop a profitable book of business through a selection of brokers.
- Accountability for the sustained growth and underwriting results with respect to profitability and loss ratio within the cluster
- Ensure underwriting excellence across the A&H product line, by establishing and ensuring adherence to risk appetite, line setting, standards, guidelines, while ensuring rating and pricing adequacy.
- Support the development of new products and/or product enhancements
- Produce files for Peer Reviews to the agreed AIG A&H Division standards.
- Comply with key regulatory and risk management responsibilities, by implementing AIG underwriting policies, practices, and procedures.
- Ensure that AIG customers are treated fairly in accordance with AIG standards and maintain high service levels to both internal and external customers
- Work with Marketing team to develop various sales collateral to support business development
- Maintain focus on industry practices, developments and pricing.
- Produce accurate and timely management information for senior management.

Work with multiple stakeholders to plan and execute business
- Establish and leverage strong relationships with Clients, Brokers and Partners
- Able to internally engage with Regional & Global Leadership.
- Integrator: Collaborate with multiple technical, functional, distribution and client/broker management resources, local, regional, and global, across the wider business.
- Build and maintain appropriate, strong, and effective business relationships with key external stakeholders.

What we’re looking for:

- Proven experience of product and local market experience, with underwriting experience with individual, group, travel, specialty insurance products and affinity segment
- Strong sales and negotiation background: ability to influence others to develop business, negotiate agreement, with a strong understanding of sales process, including pre-sale and post-sale requirements of the business
- Strong understanding of the local insurance broker community (Corporate, Medium and Individual Brokers), plus the ability to build relationships with brokers and senior management.
- Analytical and quantitative skills
- Strong customer service ethic, with a sound understanding of the business processes
- Ability to read and analyze P&L statements with an understanding of the key performance indicators
- Proficient knowledge of key regulatory requirements.
