A research position for one Research Grant (“Bolsa de Investigação“) is open at Instituto de Telecomunicações, in the scope of the Project DiaPreReApp - DM1 Predict and Reason about Hypoglycaemia in an App. This project is funded by FCT/MCTES through national funds and when applicable co-funded EU funds under the UIDB/50008/2020 project reference.**Scientific Area**:

**Admission Requirements**:
Research grants are intended:

- for students enrolled in a degree-conferring course to carry out R&D activities with the aim to consolidate their scientific training through the development of research work leading to the attainment of the respective academic degree or completion of the course (integrated or not in R&D projects).
- for students enrolled in courses that do not confer an academic degree but which are integrated in an educational project of a higher education institution and are developed in association or cooperation with one or several R&D units.

In what concerns the admission requirements for this research grant in particular:

- The applicant should be familiar with logic programming, RBS, Random Forests, and Bayesian networks.

**Work Objectives**:
The tasks to be undertaken will involve:

- Evaluate, with the available datasets of type I diabetic patients, the most relevant features to predict a hypo or hyperglycaemia;
- Based on the inferred features, discover how they can be correlated to predict the events using Bayesian networks and association rules;
- From the previous points, explain the event based on the rules and the currently collected data from the patient.

**Duration**:
4 months, with the possibility of renewal (according to the regulations defined by FCT). Start date: July 1th, 2023 or soon thereafter.

a. Master degree in Computer Science, Networks and Information Systems Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or Master degree in a related area (25%);
b. Research experience in logic programming, RBS and Bayesian networks (25%);
c. Publications in the area of the call (25%);
