**Admission Requirements**:
Research Initiation Grants are intended:

- for students enrolled in a professional higher technical course, undergraduate degree, integrated master's degree or master's degree, to undertake initial R&D activities, with a view to beginning their scientific training through integration in R&D projects to be developed in national institutions.
- for students with an undergraduate degree carrying out initial R&D activities who are enrolled in non-degree courses integrated into the educational project of a higher education institution, developed in association or cooperation with one or more R&D units.

In what concerns the admission requirements for this research initiation grant in particular:

- Enrolled in a M..Sc.. degree course of electrical and computer engineering;
- Background on machine learning or data science;
- Knowledge of Python/C++ programming; and
- Fluent in English with good skills in technical writing and presenting.

**Work Objectives**:
The main objective of this work is to study, design, implement and disseminate novel algorithms in the area of compressed domain learning-based image analysis.

The work will be developed at the premises of Instituto de Telecomunicações - Lisboa, under the supervision of Professor João Ascenso.

**Duration**:
3 months. Start date: April 1st, 2023 or soon thereafter.

**Monthly salary**:
