The German Teacher is reporting directly to the Human Resources Manager and is responsible for the efficient running of the Onboard German Language Courses with regards to all aspects.
The position description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the shipboard employee occupying this position. Employees may be required to perform any other job-related duties assigned by their supervisor or management. All duties and responsibilities are to be performed in accordance with Company’s Safety, Quality and Environmental Standards.
- Plan and implement lessons/work schemes.
- Provide a safe and stimulating environment that facilitates learning.
- Work in conjunction with the Head of Departments to ensure the Onboard German Language Program is available to all crew.
- Create and execute specific classes / lessons for departments with direct Guest Contact. This to improve the overall offered service to our guests.
- Monitor the progress and development of the students.
- Ensure regular testing of levels takes place, to secure and monitor progress of all students.
- Hold “graduation ceremonies” as a reward for completing a German Level Course
- Supports the Human Resources Manager in the creation of weekly and monthly reporting regarding the offered onboard German Courses.
- Uploading and entering of data and scans in MXP, and Adonis as required in the HR Office. (Course completion certification etc.)
- Support the Crew Administration Office on Crew Change Days as required.
**Financial Responsibilities**
- To be cost conscious with the use of materials and consumables.
- To ensure that Company property is always maintained properly and treated with respect.
**Safety & Discipline Responsibilities**
You are required to:
- Read, understand, and implement the Mission Statement of the Company.
- Wear the complete prescribed uniform and name badge as specified in Company Standards, complying with regulations relating to tattoos, hair and body decorations
- Attend and participate as required in all emergency drills, carry personal emergency card, and understand emergency duties.
- To properly use Personal Protective Equipment in work areas where required.
- To do In Port Manning duties as scheduled and as required by Company policy.
- Other responsibilities, as assigned, but not limited to the above.
**Qualifications** Education/Position Requirements**
- Certified medically and physically fit.
- Must have a good command of the English language
- Must hold a DaF, Goethe or Berlitz Teaching Certificate
- Must be knowledgeable in ISM / ISO, MLC and SQM Matters
- Experience in a Teaching Position is a must
- Strong Organisational skills are required
**Team Communication and Meetings**
- Joins all Meetings as required, weekly HR Team Meeting
- Sign off Meetings as needed
**Position Physical Requirements**
- You must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 Kg.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, colour vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- You must be physically able to participate in emergency lifesaving procedures and drills.
- Full use and range of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities are required to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency including the lowering of lifeboats.
