His/her tasks will include lab management and the planning and execution of experiments.

The project

The aim of the project is to understand how T cells can be optimally geared to fight solid tumors using vaccination strategies. More specifically, we will explore how vaccination approaches can induce resident memory T cells to improve immune defense against cancer. We will focus on how the development of resident memory T cells can be instructed in the liver to provide local protection against hepatocellular carcinoma. The research will be performed using advanced techniques in flow cytometry and transcriptional profiling and using unique tools developed in house to visualize and manipulate resident memory T cells.

The lab

The lab of Tissue Immunity focuses on the development of memory T cells in infection and tumor settings and the transcriptional and molecular pathways underlying T cell differentiation. The eventual goal is to improve the exploit of T cells for the purpose of cancer immunotherapy. The lab is embedded in the department of Cancer and Physiology at the Champalimaud Foundation that provides a lively, internationally oriented, scientific environment with excellent facilities.
