Job purpose

This position is responsible for lead the development and management of BorgWarner Viana's raw material supply quality strategies, while meeting technological expectations throughout the supply chain.

Location

Viana do Castelo plant, Portugal

Key Resposibilities:

- Address supplier quality, capacity and technical issues in line with BW's supplier development strategy and supply chain commodity strategy;
- Participate in the supplier selection process, ensuring that assessments of new suppliers are carried out by the Supplier Development team, whenever necessary;
- Provide support and priorities to Program Launch Buyers and Advanced Quality Engineers on vendor, APQP and WAR projects;
- Support the change management process related to suppliers;
- Continuously monitor supplier performance. Drive the improvement of KPI's selected for supplier assessment, 2nd party audits and completion of supplier development actions;
- Perform process and other audits on suppliers;
- Manage root cause analysis and verification of corrective actions for supplier quality issues;
- Engage in resolving critical, repeated issues that impact the customer;
- Verify the effectiveness of containment actions implemented at suppliers;
- Promote the use of customer preferred techniques for continuous improvement such as Lean, Six Sigma, Poka-Yoke, MSA, FMEA
- Lead the team in reviewing quality issues with the engineering team and guide the necessary actions to correct defects;
- Address supplier quality, capacity, and technical issues to the indicated escalation level within BW and within the supplier organization, where necessary. Engaging local or global purchasing and the Global Supplier Development Team, including management where necessary;
- Lead and monitor the initial sampling of suppliers (PPAP);
- Verify the capabilities and capabilities of the supplier's process when necessary;
- Support supplier risk management when necessary;
- Manage issues related to suppliers, at the appropriate levels;
- Be the point of contact between supplier relations and internal relations;
- Responsible for complex or critical supplier agreements;
- Develop, monitor and report failures in BSC metrics;
- Manage the supplier development team with regard to recruitment, information, performance management, training, development, motivation;
- Actively collaborate with the global organization;
- Facilitate efficient and open communication within the team and with other teams/departments in the organization;
- Ensure respect and compliance with the safety and cleanliness rules at the workplace, as well as respect and comply with them.
- Continuously ensure the improvement of health, safety and environmental conditions.
- Participate in defining, implementing and maintaining the organization's policies.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering area or related field
- MBA (valuable)
- 5 or more years of Quality Experience in automotive Industry or related field
- 2 or more years of experience in supervising teams
- Experience in Quality processes
- High Knowledge of quality standards and processes
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, required
- Presentation, communication and negotiation skills
- Able to motivate others and drive for results
- Proficiency in English, written and spoken
- Full proficient in Portuguese, written and spoken
- Knowledge in German (preferred)
- Flexibility and willingness to travel
