Anna de Sommer Champalimaud e Dr. Carlos Montez Champalimaud), a private, non-profit research institution in Lisbon, Portugal, is looking for a Research Technician to join our team at the Champalimaud Research Programme.
The fellow will collaborate closely with team members of the Cortical Circuits Laboratory on a project studying how knowledge about the environment is represented in cortical circuits, using state of the art optical and electrophysiological recordings of cortical neurons, viral and optogenetic methods in rodents.
He/she will assist with
- Surgical procedures in mice;
- Training mice in diverse tasks;
- Histological procedures;
- Keeping and maintaining lab databases and reagent stocks;
- Performing and analyzing two-photon Ca2+ recordings;

Required Education Level
Master Degree (MSc) or equivalent in Neuroscience, Biology, Bioengineering, Engineering or Physics

Specific Requirements
Essential skills
- Research experience, with hands-on technical experience in life sciences research;
- Ability to Work and Learn independently;
- Good capacity and value for teamwork, and communication skills;
- Excellent level of English.
Desirable skills that will also be considered
- Research Experience in Neuroscience.
- Experience with rodent surgery and rodent handling, instrumentation, and data analysis.
- Experience with computer programming (e.g. C, Python, Matlab) ideally in the context of data analysis.
