Elementis isestablishing a new office and modern laboratory in Porto, Portugal. They offerexciting roles in Research & Development, Human Resources, Finance,Logistics, Customer Service, Regulatory/Product Stewardship, Sales &Marketing, providing a diverse range of opportunities to grow and make animpact. Most of the roles are regional or global.
The Senior Scientistfor the Adjacent market will drive the development of new segments incooperation with the marketing department team. His technical expertise isneeded to understand better and faster the needs to be successful in newsegments. Designing and execution of prove of concept testing internal orexternal will be part of the position
**Your new role**:
Develop in cooperation with marketing strategies to learn and penetrate new segments (=adjacent markets, e.g. Ceramics, Composites, Plastics, Dispersant for the Battery Market)
Identify, coordinate, and work with external research, academic and new venture partners to discover and present new technology and innovation platforms to leadership team
Design and execute needed studies for multiple project simultaneously - internal or external - to collect scientific product data.
Perform an active role in new product brainstorming sessions with Marketing and R&D. Develop new concepts and present ideas to Marketing.
Review patent landscape to identify market launches and cross industry inspiration
Lead technical training for commercial teams, distributors and customers.
**What you\'ll need to succeed**:
**Education**: A degree in chemistry or chemical engineering, preferably Master of science or PhD. Relevant areas are Organic chemistry, Polymer chemistry, Physical chemistry,
**Experience**: 5+ years if PhD degree, 10+ years if Bachelor’s or Masters degree, of practical experience with customer collaboration/customer service. Technical Experience in targeting new segments.
Experience in polymer synthesis is desirable but not required.
**IT Skills**: Microsoft Office, Presentation software, Project management software
**Desireable**: Salesforce, JDE, Experimental design, Rheocompas
**Language Skills**: fluent in spoken and written English, second language is beneficial (apart from Portuguese)
**Working arrangements**: On site
**Traveling required**: up to 25 % of travel required
This position willhave fully on-site regime. Whilst this role will be based at the Porto Hub,there will be occasions where you may be required to travel to other Elementissites.
