There is an open call for two (2) Research Initiation Grants (“Bolsas de Iniciação à Investigação”) at Instituto de Telecomunicações, in the scope of the Project PHYSEC, funded by the NATO framework.

**Admission Requirements**:
Research Initiation Grants are intended:

- for students enrolled in a professional higher technical course, undergraduate degree, integrated master's degree or master's degree, to undertake initial R&D activities, with a view to beginning their scientific training through integration in R&D projects to be developed in national institutions.
- for students carrying out initial R&D activities who are enrolled in non-degree courses integrated in the educational project of a higher education institution, developed in association or cooperation with one or more R&D units.**Work Objectives**:

- Support the development of components of an Intrusion Detection System employing machine learning algorithms for anomaly-detection in IoT networks.
- Data processing using python libraries (e.g., pandas, sklearn).
- Training and testing machine learning algorithms implemented in python libraries (e.g., sklearn, PyOD) to detect attacks in IoT networks.

The work will be developed at the premises of Instituto de Telecomunicações at University of Aveiro, under the supervision of Dr. Jonathan Rodriguez Gonzalez.

**Duration**:
11 months. This type of scholarship has a maximum duration of 1 year. Start date: January 2023 or soon thereafter.
