Senior Platform and Application Engineer

Our client is currently hiring a Senior Platform and Application Engineer to join their team

This is an opportunity to be part of the engineering team in Portugal of an AI- and automation-driven financial crime operations company from Iceland. The Company is focused on transforming how financial institutions fight financial crime, building and operating an Azure-native platform that combines scalable data engineering, advanced agentic AI, and workflow automation to make AML operations faster, more accurate, and significantly more cost-efficient. The target is moving beyond software-as-a-tool toward delivering automation, intelligent agents, and operational outcomes.

About the Role

This position requires a strong engineering discipline centred on design clarity, scalability, and long-term maintainability. The Company maintains a rigorous design-first culture, where architectural decisions are documented, reviewed, and debated before implementation. Engineers work through design documents, RFCs, and structured discussions to ensure transparency and consistency across the platform. The new engineering group will be building the technological core of this operational transformation.

This role operates across legacy boundaries, working on backend services, API design, reliability, and integration layers.
