TEST AUTOMATION ENGINEER (HYBRID PORTO)

Role Overview

The Test Automation Engineer will join a centralized Test Center responsible for delivering automated testing services based on a mature and proven testing strategy and methodology. The role focuses on the design, development, execution, and maintenance of automated test scripts, while also contributing to knowledge sharing and training of team members. This position supports critical applications across key business domains and plays a strategic role in improving test quality, efficiency, and return on investment (ROI).

Main Responsibilities

- Define and implement the test automation strategy within projects.

- Plan and manage the rollout of automated test scripts.

- Estimate budget, timelines, and ROI for automation initiatives.

- Perform Proof of Concepts (POCs) to assess technical feasibility of automation.

- Translate business requirements into Gherkin scenarios in close collaboration with business and technical teams.

- Actively participate in “Three Amigos” sessions.

- Develop and maintain GUI automated test scripts using Selenium (Java), WebdriverIO (JavaScript), Gherkin, Cucumber, Maven.

- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines or create new pipelines using Jenkins or GitLab CI.

- Set up and maintain test automation infrastructure using Docker and Kubernetes.

- Debug automation execution issues and continuously improve test frameworks.

- Analyze and document test results.

- Provide Go / No‑Go input.

- Identify and report risks related to quality or delivery timelines.

- Provide regular progress updates to management.

Knowledge Sharing & Training

- Train developers and junior testers on execution, development, and maintenance of automated tests.

- Train team members on Gherkin and BDD practices.

- Continuously update skills and share knowledge on industry best practices and emerging automation tools.

Technical Skills (Mandatory)

- Minimum 6 years of experience in Test Automation.

- Strong expertise in GUI test automation.

- At least 2 years of hands‑on experience with Selenium (Java), WebdriverIO (JavaScript), Gherkin, Cucumber, Maven, Jenkins, IntelliJ, Postman, JSON.

- Experience creating Docker images and managing test environments.

- Experience building CI/CD pipelines.

- Experience with ALM Octane.

- Strong risk identification and follow‑up skills.

Additional Technical Knowledge (Valued)

- System administration experience on Windows and Linux/Unix (IIS, .NET, WCF, WebLogic, Apache, Tomcat, Java EE).

- Monitoring and scheduling tools: Geneos, Introscope, Dynatrace, Autosys, Dollar Universe.

- Scripting skills (Python, Perl, Shell, SQL).

- Knowledge of production processes, including ITIL, release, incident, and problem management.

- Database knowledge: SQL Server and Oracle.
