Economist/Phd Economist

A2F Consulting is an international consulting firm and provides a broad range of advisory services to support international development in emerging markets.

We work with international development institutions, multi- and bilateral organizations, foundations, as well as governments and corporate clients to support international development.

We are looking for Economists / PhD Economists with strong quantitative and analytical skills to join our growing Economic Analyses and Evaluation Division.

This position will be hybrid with regular office presence in our Lisbon office.

RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS (depending On Level Of Experience)

- Contribute to / lead analytical research projects on behalf of public and private sector clients on a range of economic policy issues (e.g. project & impact evaluations, market research, surveys, cost‑benefit analyses)

- Manage and participate in projects on‑and off‑site

- Contribute to client relationship management

- Track and monitor scope, schedules, and quality for multiple concurrent projects

- Proactively support business development including writing proposals and technical reports

- Co‑author publications on economic issues to strengthen company brand

- Knowledge management and training

- Willingness and ability to travel internationally (about 10%) is required

Qualifications

- A Master’s degree or PhD (preferred) in Economics, Financial Economics or a similar degree from a reputable university

- Ideally 2–5 years of relevant work experience

- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines as task manager/team leader or team member

- Strong quantitative knowledge of statistics software such as R, STATA, SPSS, Python, or similar

- Excellent analytical and conceptual skills

- Ability to apply theoretical research to practical policy recommendations

- Intellectual curiosity and willingness to learn

- Team player with strong client management and interpersonal skills

- Fluency in written and spoken English is required

- Proficiency in a foreign language would be a plus
