THE OPPORTUNITY

We are hiring a Senior Backend Software Engineer to our CARE team in Portugal We are looking for a passionate and skilled Software Engineer to join our team and help us build the next generation of AI-powered solutions.
This role focuses on generative AI, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) + LLMs fine tuning, and API integrations. Talented software engineers, of any area, who would like to shift their career to invest in AI are welcome to apply if they are a match to some of the qualifications and preferred qualifications listed below.

YOUR IMPACT

1. Work within an agile stack talented engineering team;
2. Help to define the architecture of systems and integrations, bring innovation to the table, and make sure design docs are up to date;
3. Support existing systems looking to enhance functionality, increase scale, and transform in new ways to meet our product demands;
4. Ensure successful deliveries, and promote the long-term technical health of our journeys;
5. Write maintainable code and tests;
6. Take part in incident resolution and troubleshooting in the production environment, as well as in writing useful and critical mortems;
7. Help and mentor other developers;
8. Ensure quality code using best practices such as code review and pair programming;
9. Live the mission: inspire and empower others by genuinely caring for your own wellbeing and your colleagues.
10. Bring wellbeing to the forefront of work, and create a supportive environment where everyone feels comfortable taking care of themselves, taking time off, and finding life balance.

WHO YOU ARE

1. Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent professional experience;
2. Experience in designing and developing modern web applications;
3. Experience with microservices and high volume distributed systems;
4. Proficient in one or more programming languages (Java/Kotlin/Golang/Typescript/etc.). Golang and Kotlin will both be considered a plus;
5. Cloud computing (AWS) and Cloud Native (K8s) experience;
6. Being open to new experiences, willing to learn and grow;
7. Willing to work within an agile environment meant to be continuously challenged and improved upon;
8. Strong communication skills, including verbal and written English and Portuguese.
