The Constellation Technology Team provides a group-wide set of Technology Products and Services across the Constellation Automotive Group.

Our software engineering team is at the forefront of cutting-edge technologies and projects revolutionising the automotive industry. We are excited to expand our team at our brand-new tech hub in Coimbra, where you will have a unique opportunity to influence the development and culture of this innovative hub.

Role Accountabilities:

- As a Principal Engineer you will be responsible for driving engineering strategy for a wide domain, collaborating across multiple product teams.
- You will solve complex problems and shape the technical direction and adoption of tools and processes across the department.
- You will have the expertise to take on and provide technical leadership to major product initiatives, ensuring a consistent approach to software engineering practices.
- You will work closely with Enterprise Architecture to develop optimal software/system architecture and makes responsible decisions and evaluates trade-offs impacting various aspects of the business.
- You collaborate with Product Owners to make recommendations for highest impact sustainable product outcomes.
- Understand and apply excellent design principles and development practices. Champion security, privacy, cost-control, resilience and scalability, ensuring they’re at the forefront of decision-making.
- Collaborate on troubleshooting of functional and performance issues in both development and production systems and feedback into improved design, implementation and process as appropriate.
- Unblocks and enable team members to address complex technical challenges.

Knowledge and Experience:

- Experience in senior technology leadership roles, for example, Principal Engineer, Staff Engineer, Technical Lead and Solution Architect.
- A track record of leading change of software engineering practices and technologies into an organisation.
- Background as an expert software engineer, ideally in the .net ecosystem, and capable of deep diving into implementation details of components and features across technology stacks.
- A comprehensive understanding of technology trends, systems architecture, and software development practices.
- Expertise in Cloud technology, such as Amazon Web Services and Azure, and be able to evaluate a required deliverable to select the right technology.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse complex issues and develop innovative solutions.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with various stakeholders and to communicate technical information clearly.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related field or equivalent work experience.
